The City of San Diego will consider the no-fault eviction moratorium on Monday, April 4 at 2:00 P.M. Submitted comments provide a quick tally of those FOR or AGAINST an item. As a rental housing provider in San Diego, I am opposed to the proposed no-fault eviction moratorium (Item 200). The eviction ban is being extended to tenants not actually affected by COVID-19. There is no rational basis to extend a blanket no-fault eviction ban to tenant who have not applied for rental assistance or unethical tenants who are gaming the system. Everyday life in San Diego is functioning as if it were pre-pandemic. With the unemployment rate back to 4% and full vaccinations at 82.3%, people are going to work, and kids are going to school. And yet our industry is being forced to compensate for San Diego's housing shortage. I strongly urge you to vote NO on Item 200. Click the text area and press Ctrl+C to copy text.
